“Jesus said to them, ‘My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to accomplish His work.'” – John 4:34
There are things that temporarily satisfy, and then there are things that truly satisfy. A small cup of warm water on a hot day can only temporarily satisfy someone’s thirst. However, a large glass of ice water is what will truly satisfy on a warm, summer day. Similarly, Jesus told His disciples that what truly satisfied Him were two things: doing the will and accomplishing the work of His Father. You see, Jesus had such an intimate relationship with the Father that what was on His Father’s heart became that which was on His heart. And that brought Jesus great spiritual satisfaction! Can the same be said of our personal relationships with God? Like Jesus, we will never be able to understand His plan for our lives unless we get to know Him intimately.
