“And I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you…” – John 17:3-21
This prayer found in John 17 is known as Jesus’ high priestly prayer. This was the prayer Jesus prayed the night before He was betrayed and then crucified for our sin. Jesus knew what the future held for Him. He prayed this prayer for those He would leave behind, asking God to equip and encourage them as He left this earth. Though He would not be here any longer to share the truth of the Gospel, those He had walked with and discipled would remain. The Gospel is not more effective because of the person who shares it. The Gospel stands alone as effective. People do not need to hear the Gospel from a professional Bible teacher. They only need to hear the Gospel, and you can carry that Gospel as effectively as anyone. Ask God to give you courage to share the Gospel with those in your circle of influence.
