Know by Experience
"This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent." - John 17:3
Information is a great tool to get to know about something. But information alone is not sufficient to truly experience that something. On the West Coast we enjoy a beautiful blessing of God that we have come to know as In-n-Out Burger. The amazing Double-Double Burger is a great blessing - in large part to what In-n-Out fans know as "spread." One could explain exactly what the ingredients are to spread, but there is nothing quite like biting into a freshly made juicy Double-Double.
Our Scripture today uses an interesting Greek word for "know." The word is "ginosko." It is an experiential kind of knowing. So following Jesus is much more than knowing about God. It is about a personal, experiential knowledge of Him. Knowledge about God is as unfulfilling as knowing all the ingredients at In-n-Out. The joy comes through experiencing Him! When I "taste and see that the Lord is good (Psalm 34:8)," I experience God and truly know Jesus like I was created to know him!
Do you know a lot about God but haven't experienced Him? Cry out to your Father today!
