“Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving; praying at the same time for us as well, that God will open up to us a door for the word, so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ, for which I have also been imprisoned; that I may make it clear in the way I ought to speak.” – Colossians 4:2-4
The Good News of Jesus Christ is a precious message and one that we need to treat properly. Too often in today’s practice of Christianity, the Gospel is a product that is being marketed so its truths can be compromised in order to make it acceptable to the masses. In the verse above, Paul was so concerned about how he handled the truth of the Gospel that he asked the Colossians to pray that he would proclaim the Gospel clearly and make its truths evident to others. Like Paul, we want to be sure to present the Gospel clearly without distortion in order to avoid sharing a false gospel. The message is not the Gospel plus something else. The message is JUST the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
