“Do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 2:4-5
One of the things that distinguish the life of a Jesus follower is the principle of honor. As you and I abide in Christ and His life is lived through us, the principle and the corresponding practices of honor will be evident in our lives. We honor others by considering them more important than ourselves. Put more simply, it’s “you before me.” You may be thinking, “I can’t do that. That’s too hard!” What does the verse say? It says, “which was also in Christ Jesus.” Honoring others is impossible when left to us. But as we allow Christ to live His life in and through us, it’s not you and I honoring others. It is Christ in us!
