But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you.” – John 16:12-14
How do you make wise decisions? There are a lot of things the Bible doesn’t speak to directly. So, what do we do when the Word of God is silent about a specific issue we are facing? How do we know the right thing to do? Thankfully, we have been given the Holy Spirit the Spirit of truth. It is He who will guide us in these difficult times. What does that mean exactly? Jesus gives us the answer at the end of this passage. He said that the Spirit will do several things but ultimately, “He will glorify Me.” One of the filters when making decisions in life is the question, “Does this decision bring glory to Jesus and align with the truth of His Word?” For the Holy Spirit will always shine a spotlight on Jesus and the direction He provides will never contradict the Word of God.
