“Jesus answered and said to him, ‘If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him.'” – John 14:23
The entire story of the Bible is the story of God redeeming a people back to Himself so that they can enjoy a personal relationship with Him so that they could enjoy His presence. Throughout the Old Testament, His presence was manifested temporarily in things like the tabernacle and the temple. But as this passage and its larger context reveals, Jesus makes the statement that He will make His abode with us through the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, we have the great privilege of enjoying His presence continually (Psalms 16:11)! However, the depth of enjoyment of His presence is dependent on our love relationship with Him.
