"Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me.Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you." Matthew 5:10-12

Matthew 5:10-12
“Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”            – Matthew 5:10-12

In Jesus’ teaching about the Kingdom of heaven, He shares where true fulfillment and joy are found. He is helping His disciples think like He does. His thoughts are so unlike the world. Jesus teaches here that blessing accompanies persecution. Though it may be uncomfortable at times, God blesses the ones that endure the wrath of the world with heavenly reward. Therefore, a Jesus follower lives with their sight set on heaven, not on the things of this world. So don’t be surprised when you see the world’s hostility toward your godly attitude (1 Peter 4:12). For all those who desire to live a godly life will experience some sort of persecution (2 Timothy 3:12).

How do you view persecution when it comes your way? Is it a blessing or a curse?
